Hyperion Dominion

The Hyperion Dominion was a galactic empire in the Fringe. It was characterized by its neo-imperialist policies and matrilineal primogeniture feudal monarchy.

History

The dominion was founded by a conservative faction that split from of the Galactic Union of Space Forces in 2321. It devolved into a number of warring successor states following the death of Empress Élodie Cloutier 2601.

Culture

The Dominion officially held French and English as its primary languages, although it used the former for most matters of state. The state's legal framework did not include marriage, instead codifying relationships as protected under an individual's freedom of association.

Monarchy

The throne of the Hyperion Dominion was passed through matrilineal primogeniture inheritance law. Empresses produced heirs in a de facto form of polyandry with their Gilded Consorts, a group of noble male concubines. The Empress would exercise political power by choosing her consorts and when she made herself available to them.

Territory

The Dominion consisted of the seven duchies of Cahors, Valbonne, Jarnac, Tonnerre, Issoire, Lourdes, and St. Germain.
