The Turner Log

Anthony Turner is a human explorer who was the first to leave the Sol System and make contact with The Constructs. His collective journal was invaluable in scientific research and exploration of space. However, this journal entry marked a point in history where humanity was no longer alone in the galaxy.

Historical Details

History

This log defined policy decisions for years to come as humanity needed to make a decision of their stance upon intelligent life and the coming actions within space. Within the coming years, space exploration expand and being the first stages in a new age of exploration.

Public Reaction

When the log was leaked to the public many political factions began to panic about what this means for humanity. The people who took a xenophobic stance on exploration immediately began using this encounter to suggest the danger of exploration and the failures of the United Colonization Program. Panic erupted across the Sol System as many believed that humanity was not ready for any encounter with an advanced civilization. However, a small minority took this log as a call for more support to our space organization to begin having more of a presence within space. Companies began to pull out their investments due to protect their assets. Colony migration drop significantly. The public would not be calmed until a few years later when the first Golden World was found.

Webster: There is no error Turner. Something was...
SAI 02-E3: Unidentified Object Detected.
Turner: SAI can you give us visual.
SAI 02-E3: Of course.
Nikolayevna: What in... Impossible!
Turner: Webster what can you tell me.
Webster: It's fully mechanical, but the nebula is obscuring our sensors. SAI can you enhance them?
SAI 02-E3: Sorry, Webster, but there appears to be a unknown field surrounding the object. I can't bypass them.
Turner: Prepare weapons. We can't know what it’s intent.
Nikolayevna: Already done sir.
Webster: Are you sure? It doesn't look hostile... It even looks like a whale.
Turner: We can't be sure. You know what they gave us. We are on our own when it comes to first contact.
Webster: Yes, but if we can detect it, so can it and it has done nothing to us yet.
Nikolayevna: Not necessarily.
Webster: It's only moving through the nebula. It's not hostile.
Turner: I have no intention of pissing it off.
Nikolayevna: What should we do then? We could try and get closer. I doubt it would be able to resist our weapons.
Turner: SAI can you project it's movements.
SAI 02-E3: Of course... On screen now.
Turner: We leave it alone. It is staying away from us and we can mark it for scientists to examine later.

Turner's Report

We came across a mechanical whale that appears to be harvesting the nebula. The whale can only be detectable when it leaves the nebula, but it's protected by a field. Webster encouraged us to stay and watch which pushed our goal back a week, but the whale would repeat this pattern for a few days before disappearing deep into the nebula.
In order to progress our goal, we sent a probe in order to get more information on it. From those scans, it is completely synthetic and uses the material from the nebula to power its systems. It would also appear that the whale is constantly sending out hidden signals which we believe it is to other whales. Whatever it is doing, there is more out there and needs to be known for later expeditions.
Whomever created them is certainly more advanced than our technology and due to the distance from the nearest human space port, it couldn't be anything else. We are not alone and never have been.

This a monumental journal in history. Without it, humanity would likely have had a completely different stance when it came to first contact. Luckily it was The Constructs Mr.Turner met.
