This article contains important information about the world of Starsong!
It is told, among the folk of Strion, that when the Star Orion becomes angered, he sends down bolts of lightning that strike through the wandering mists and scatter little fires across the surface of the planet.
Some view it as a sign of danger, and a warning that they are angering the Star that protects them. However, others chase these fires through the mists and use them as an opportunity to worship Orion.
Responses to the Lightning
Fear
Many Strions fear the lightning and the fires it creates because it represents the anger of the Star that they worship. They believe that the lighting is meant as a punishment for their actions (whatever they may be) and the anger won't be satisfies until they repent.
Worship
A small minority of Strions worship the lightning because they believe it to be Orion communicating with them. They leave Flower Messages in the craters left behind, and sometimes even risk their own lives to dance in among the storms.
Geographical Impact
Flares from Orion cause a lightning-like effect on the surface of Strion. This ranges from small, sudden bursts of lightning, to full on lighting storms that set fire to the local flora and create craters in the landscape. For many years, the Strions have tried to prevent these lightning storms with no success. Now, they focus on preventative measures so as to save as much of the environment and as many lives as possible.
The lightning causes craters across the surface of the planet. It's dangerous and has caused many adventurous Strions to meet an early death. If we can appease Orion it will be better for us all.
