The Obscura
The Obscura are a small group of doppelgangers, led by Omiz, who seek to mitigate the ill effects other doppelgangers wreak on humanoid society. Though they generally operate in secrecy, their very existence is not kept secret.
Structure
The Obscura is small, numbering fewer than fifty.
They are led by a figure called the Rectifier, who is elected by the full organization on the death of their predecessor.
Below the Rectifier are the Discerners. The number of Discerners that exist at any given time is not fixed, but is determined by the Rectifier based on the mission at hand, as well as the number of members in the Obscura at that time. Discerners operate as tactical commanders and usually oversee around eight to ten Operatives, as the general members of the organization are known.
Operators are the rank-and-file of the organization. They are encouraged to develop and specialize in various skills that will enhance their ability to operate.
Culture
The Obscura add members through a series of tests and challenges. The majority of their kind find these rituals to be far too much trouble and will move on. Those few who remain, are inducted as Operatives. Once initiated, they remain for life. While personal initiative and autonomy are encouraged (and, indeed, critical) during operations, outright disobedience and insubordination are punished by execution in the presence of the entire organization.
Public Agenda
Because they are few in number, the Obscura seeks to limit doppelganger activity that is detrimental to humanoid society on a larger scale. They typically do not care to intervene in small, localized infiltrations, unless they are likely to do extreme harm.
Assets
The Obscura are reasonably wealthy and possess safehouses in many major cities throughout Corvalis, which are overseen and maintained for them by humanoid allies in those locales.

The most powerful enemy of the Obscura is Malleable, with whom they have clashed on a few occasions. In each of those instances, one side or the other was forced to retreat before a definitive winner was able to be determined.
