Elf

Elves are a long-lived people with strong ties to both Arcane and Primal magic, depending on their heritage.
Originating from the continent of Bar-Oinur, the Elves sought an alliance with the Dragons due to their powerful magical abilities. They willingly became the Military of the Dragons against the other sentient species of Strathnora, leading to great wars and destruction.
Eventually, they betrayed the Dragons when it became obvious that they were seen as lesser instead of equals, joining the other races in their fight against them. This led to a loss of a great deal of their original culture, something that was only exacerbated by the destruction of their original Capital city of Afil'Quah. Now, even after centuries have passed, many elves are seen as refugees and outcasts due to their people's use in the Dragon's armies that fought against the other races.

Elven diets vary greatly between Heritages, with some eating almost exclusively meat, while others only consume fruits and vegetables, and others still being omnivorous.

Behaviour

Elves are solitary by nature, usually preferring their own company over that of others. This means that most Elven settlements are small, though there are exceptions.

Additional Information

Elves live in a cast based society.   Much of their history was lost or destroyed due to the Dragons, and they are always searching for more about it.   Elven Mothers and Fathers are often seen as the leaders/most important people in a community due to their low birth rates.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Primarily found on the Elven Continent of Bar-Oinur, they are also present on the continent of Eagos.

All Elves are capable of seeing clearly in low-light environments.

Civilization and Culture

Beauty Ideals

Elves view perfection and balance of magic and nature as the true forms of beauty, and will often adorn themselves in flowing robes with enchanted crystals floating around them, or cover themselves in moss and beautiful living flowers.

Gender Ideals

There is very little difference between a male and female Elf.

Courtship Ideals

Elves more often than not have arranged marriages to attempt to breed the most powerful offspring they can to make up for their lack of numbers. This is especially true inthe higher casts of Elven society.

Average Technological Level

Elves tend to stray away from technological advances, preferring to focus on magic and enchantments.

Major Language Groups and Dialects

Elven, Sylvan

Common Dress Code

Long flowing robes adorned with magical gems or living plants.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Elves tend to view themselves as better than other species, be they sentient or not, with few exceptions. It takes a lot to get an Elf to trust or accept a person of a different species, but once they have, they will often view them as an Elf of a lower cast, better than non-elves, but still below them.   The only exceptions to this are Gnomes and the Fey, the former of which they view as equals, and the latter as betters.
