Orc Tax
The Orc Tax is a 10% flat tax on items that are sold. The money goes toward funding the military and the Orcish Monarchy. The 10% is often rounded down, so if something cost 95 cop, the tax would be 9 cop. When coins are transferred from customer to vendor, the tax coins are often put into a sealed box which is either collected or taken to a collection booth or bank weekly. Vendors are required to be registered and to keep logs of inventory and goods sold. That way, official auditors (which are usually human, orcish, or gnomish) can check if the numbers match. Large tax providers are often given perks and incentives, including orc protection and support against theft, so the tax is often paid by reputable businesses. There are no property or income taxes, but there are toll taxes on ports and checkpoints which supports some of the Orcish Monarchy, but also some goes to the cities themselves. Cities are given money from the government to maintain infrastructure and defense.
