Parrotrice

Parrotrice is an animal species which resembles a parrot with a long plumage and elongated body, like that of a chicken or velociraptor, with greater legs and a longer tail. Parrotrice are related to the cockatrice but are of a different order, resembling parrots rather than chickens. Like cockatrice, parrotrice can breath fire, fly, use its talons offensively, and has a horrible screech which it uses in self-defense or in hunting. 
 Parrotrice love fruit, but have been known to also consume smaller animal species, typically after roasting them with its fire spray. When it comes to fruit, however, it prefers fresh, un-scorched fruit, so it is rare for it to use its fire breath. It seems to value colorful fauna, which may be due to allowing its own colorful plumage to blend in, although this is doubtful due to the parrotrice's easy-to-spot appearance. 
 Parrotrice come in a variety of shapes and colors, and some can mimic human speech, like parrots. 
 Some pirates have utilized parrotrice to spread commands to their ship, and also to use offensively against other ships, which the parrotrice does not exercise its typical restraint when it is within a colorful and flammable forest. 
 Parrotrice are found primarily on Minnet Hwell's Downwoods and Pineapplewoods and Meyjakh's Balmygrove Orchardlands, although some, probably due to pirate captors, have been found in the wild of Hodn Hwell, where they have adapted to scavenge for fruits discarded by humans in trash. Fruit farmers and orchard keepers see the parrotrice as a pest.
