Straughten

Straughten is a town located at the base of a narrow bay on Tatsch Hwell's narrow southwestern peninsula, home of the Wyvern Way.  Straughten is a modest town; despite its proximity to Trepsilton and Port Sulfur, it is scarecly traveled or visited, partly due to its bay's long waters, its reputation for wyvern attacks, and its general lack of industry and commerce.  Trade routes bypass Straughten for Wynmollen, Tatsch's bustling capital.  This leaves Straughten as a sad and sleepy town, with a human and halfling population of straw farmers.  Wyvern hunters (legitimate ones and wanna-be's) can be found in the town's saloons.

Demographics

Mix of human and halfling.  Some human farmer immigrants and some native halflings with ties to the region.

Government

Cooperative of farmers, business-owners, sheriffs, security

Defences

Building-top crossbow stations to ward off wyvern attacks (gnomish invention)

Industry & Trade

Agriculture, but the most-recent drive in interest in Straughten is wyvern hunting, for profit and for wyvern scales for potion-making and magical research

Infrastructure

Dusty main street with wooden buildings clad with windows, old west vibes

Districts

Stables, sheriff, saloon, inn, dockyard, highway

History

The humans of Straughten have ties to Tockotch Hwell's Bordford and Vagalou.  The halflings live in the surrounding countryside in familial holes and burroughs, but some have moved closer to the town for the industry.
