Weghall
Weghall, whose name is derived from "hall at the confluence," is a dwarven town at the intersection of the Whitgald Hrug and the Kers Holm, known as the Confluence. Weghall is a grand, underground city, with impressive carvings and structures, massive columns, and vaulted ceilings in the underground Confluence. The grand city's magnificence causes the town to have a hushed and holy atmosphere, despite the hustle and bustle of the city, being located on a popular trade route.
Demographics
A majority dwarf population, followed by a sizeable gnome minority. Humans, elves, halflings, and tieflings can be found in the city, but they are usually there temporarily due to work - living underground is not suitable to the other races.
Government
A mayor elected from candidates from distinguished dwarf families, who are typically known for their family's special trade, from mining to smithery, construction, history, religion, magic, stoneworking, and more.
Defences
Traffic is heavily monitored and inspected, and tolls are charged - there is no way to Weghall other than the two cave mouth entrances.
Industry & Trade
Weghall is the capitol of the Whitgald Hrug's mining endeavors, as well as the mining work that takes place in the Kers Holms. Ore is taken to Weghall and often refined and condensed, and sometimes fashioned, before it is shipped out to its destination, whether it is Hevedberg, another city on Moethe, or another Hwell altogether.
Infrastructure
A wide, stone road with multiple lanes running straight through the town along the section of the Moethe Highway, with vaulted ceilings carved into the spacious cavern, supported by columns, buttresses, and populated with stone buildings hewn from rock and blending with stalactites and stalagmites. Veins of ore, gem, and stone adorn the structures and roads and are often highlighted or showcased with the careful construction.
History
Weghall was carved during the Age of Dwarves shortly after they invaded Moethe from the undersea tunnels connecting Meyjakh and Moethe that the dwarves carved in secret, enabling the invasion. When the dwarven rule collapsed shortly thereafter, the stronghold of Weghall remained, as did Moethe's dwarves. During the Age of Man, cooperation was encouraged, opening up Weghall to trade with Hevedberg and other Moethean towns, proving to be mutually beneficial to all. Now, Weghall is seen largely as a stop along the trade routes, but to the dwarves on Moethe and beyond, Weghall is seen as a prideful accomplishment and magnificent example of the greatness of dwarves.
Architecture
Cathedral-like structures, defensible buildings and impressive buttresses, columns, ornamentation, carvings, statues, gargoyles, adorned with precious gems which provide light, and precious stones and metals.
Geography
Located within a massive cave, although the carving of the cave turns the mountain into a cathedral and the route through the mountains a well-kept stone-floored corridor.
Natural Resources
Gems, stones, metals, ore
