Steam Power

The primary source of power used in the industrial process within Styx is steam.

Giant furnaces burn coal and wood with Stygian Fire heating water which turns into steam which then moves pistons back and forth with its pressure.
The force generated by these pistons is then transformed and used to perform all kinds of heavy labor.
Magic is seamlessly integrated into this process, the use of Stygian Fire increases energy yield from fuel tenfold and elemental cold magick is used to cool down cylinders of heated steam for reuse.

These cylinders are made of alchemically treated so called Crimson-Blessed Cast Iron to enable the repeated flash cooling process to work without incredible wear on the cylinders' material.
