Vindvættr
The Vindvættr are spirits of the wind worshipped by the Eldtruth-Kept Dwarves.
The Eldtruth-Kept believe that it was the spirits of the wind who first guided the Dwarves as they spread from the World Root that they believe they originated in as maggots.
Through the labyrinthian tunnels of the deepest layers of the Sunless Depths they followed the wind to the larger and more hospitable caverns which they then settled.
Because of this the Vindvættr are usually honored first in the religious rites of the Eldtruth-Kept Dwarves.
Some Dwarves have a special affinity to these spirits, they are called Windseers and often take important roles of spiritual guidance as well as navigators within the Sunless Depths and on the Sunless Seas.
Some scholars at the Academia Ars Magicka et Mundana classify the Vindvættr as Fae spirits which are more steady, reliable and reasonable than most of their kind and can therefore be dealt with in a ritualistic fashion.
The scholars therefore also argue that the Eldtruth-Kept practice of worshipping these spirits is unlike the bedeviled Witchcraft of the Eldest Faith.
