Structure
The Hold Ward is commanded by the Hold Marshal who is directly appointed by the regent of the hold.
- The Ward is composed of about six brigades
- A standard Phalanx Brigade acts as the basic maneuver element
- A Top-Watch Brigade mans the look-outs and mountain peaks, the act as the eyes of the Hold
- A Siege Brigade is outfit with war engines to carry out attacks on hostile fortifications
- The Royal Guard are chosen from the best warriors in the Hold; they are considered an elite force and are usually the best-equipped brigade in the Hold-Ward.
- The Training Brigade is the first assignment for a Dwarven Soldier of the hold. Bonds formed in the Skinshirts have stood for centuries.
