Camsdale - Royal City

The Royal City of Camsdale is the capital of Camsdale. A beautiful city originating before the Sundering. Camsdale is centered around the Castle Berastand, the royal residence of the Queen Matriarch.

Government

Camsdale is ruled by a Queen Matriarch. The current Queen Matriarch is Queen Velicia II. The Matriarch has an Advisory Council made of Dukes and other appointed advisors. Dukes rule the lands granted to them by the Matriarch.

Defences

Queensguard

The Queensguard is a large body of trained soldiers dedicated to protecting the Queen Matriarch and serving the peace of the Realm. The Watch is part of the Queensguard.

Knighthood in Camsdale

Camsdale is the only Isle in the Alliance to have Knighthood.
Knights of the Crown
The Order of the Crown are knights that have been recognized by the Matriarch of Camsdale, and who have vowed to serve the reigning Matriarch of the Isle. The Knights of the Crown have over 300 members, and uphold tenants of honor, loyalty, and justice.
Knights of the Sun
The Order of the Sun are knights who uphold tenants and faith in the Mother Allanna. They do not recognize any mortal authority, but thankfully by upholding the tenants of Allanna, they remain quite peaceful. The Order of the Sun and the Order of the Crown sometimes conflict when the Crown receives orders that the Sun perceives as less than Good.
Knights of the Stolen Sword
The Order of the Stolen Sword is an order of knights dedicated to earning the recognition of the crown. They were formed by an outcast knight who disobeyed the Matriarch in the process of protecting her and was exiled as a result. The Stolen Sword believes in doing good deeds and living a life without possessions. All they have is given to them by the order. Queen Valencia II of Camsdale has acknowledged that the Order of the Stolen Sword exists, but as they are not tied to the Knights of the Crown, she officially disregards them.

Industry & Trade

Camsdale creates art, minstrels, music, and tapestries. However, its most precious trade is in horses, which do not appear naturally on any other Isle. Camsdale has extensive trade relations with Baramore and the other members of the Alliance of the Five Realms .

Guilds and Factions

Guilds have not yet moved from Baramore to Camsdale. However, there are Tradesman who gather to exchange skills, tips, and ideas regarding their trades, and this is quickly moving towards Guildhood.

History

The Kingdom of Camsdale survived the Sundering relatively intact. Over 80% of the main kingdom survived, with only some of the Matriarch’s Forest and North Trade Road falling into the Abyss. As such, it had a very brief period of chaos after the Sundering and recovered quickly.

Architecture

In addition to Castle Berastand, Camsdale has many buildings that are centuries old. Other buildings, mostly made of wood, are replaced every few decades with new construction as necessary.
