Jaya P.K. Patil (a.k.a. Monsoon)
Jaya P.K. Patil, better known as the hero Monsoon, is a founding member of superhero team The Unbroken, and thus a highly influential hero in the US, if not across the world. One of the two Imbued members of the team, Jaya has been a major figurehead for American Imbued, something which simultaneously delights and terrifies her.

Physical quirks
Jaya is usually fairly resilient, but when she gets sick she gets sick. Very miserable, very extreme.
Special abilities
As an Imbued, Jaya has access to a number of so-called superpowers. In addition, she has extensive training to suit her work as a superhero.
Imbued powers
- Hydrokinesis: Jaya possesses the ability to create and control water. She cannot, however, take control over existing water.
- Enhanced agility: Jaya is agile and fast, and can put this to excellent use. She’s not a powerful fighter, but she doesn’t have to be; she relies on her speed to deliver a lot of hits and never take them.
- Enhanced balance: Jaya has superhuman balance, with excellent equilibrium. She can balance on basically anything.
- Hydrokinetic flight: by combining her agility, balance, and control over water, Jaya can maneuver through the air as if she can fly. She forms the water underneath her, but keeps it constantly moving to push herself up, rather than standing on it. Keeping her balance, rather than getting thrown off, requires her to use her exceptional balance.
Skillset
- Acrobatics: Jaya has trained a lot to master acrobatics, so she can make the most out of her enhanced agility and balance. As a result, she is an incredible acrobat.
- Flexibility: not to an inhuman degree, nor as a result of her Imbued powers, Jaya is incredibly flexible due to her training.
- Martial arts: Jaya has learned many types of martial arts, and continues to learn more. She focuses on styles that rely on speed and agility rather than raw power, and she’s a graceful fighter.
Apparel & Accessories
Jaya, in her civvies, leans business casual. Slacks, blouses, jackets. Sometimes nice jeans. Never skirts or dresses for regular situations, only if she has to be very fancy. She likes appearing serious and put-together so people take her seriously.
For superhero work, Jaya has gone through several major costumes throughout her existence as Monsoon. Her final costume, known as the Midnight Storm, is the one she has worn since the Unbroken became well-known. Although it has changed throughout the years, both in design and structure, the base concept has remained the same.

Personal history
Jaya (like most Imbued) has had her abilities since birth. Her dad abandoned her when she was young, and her mom forced her to ignore her abilities and act like she was normal (she blamed Jaya for her dad leaving, as well). When Jaya was old enough to move out, she moved away from the big city and into a small town, where she worked some generic minimum wage job. After that, she started training a lot – both martial arts, and to learn to control her powers.
Eventually, Jaya concluded that she was ready to do the right thing. Spurred by increasingly bad reports, she set out to fight crime! In the process, she comes across other heroes attempting to do the right thing. She picks up a few people during her travels, loses them, picks up some more... until, eventually, the five of them come together as The Unbroken!
Education
Finished high school, never tried for college. Finished high school with middling grades, didn’t get to take electives because of her mother (who wanted to keep Jaya within sight and under her thumb as much as possible), never attended college and never planned to (she knew she was going to move out of her mom’s house as soon as she could, and didn’t think she could do college besides that). After settling in Rainsburg she partakes in workshops and lessons, but never turned to proper education.
Employment
After moving away from her mom at 18, Jaya needed money to live, so she worked low wage jobs for 7 years while training (2003 - 2010). Most commonly, she worked as a hostess in restaurants.
In 2010, she left home to travel as a superhero, founding the Unbroken, and has been a full-time superhero since, a job she enjoys significantly more than her previous work.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Forming the Unbroken is her greatest achievement, with most other achievements related to it. Moving out of her mom’s place, building up her own life, training her skills, all of those Jaya considers great accomplishments but stepping stones to forming the Unbroken. Being able to make a difference like this.
Failures & Embarrassments
The journeying with the Unbroken was rough and riddled with learning opportunities, but that’s how Jaya sees it. Not a failure, but a moment to learn from. Building a reputation as the heroes, the Imbued to look up to was rough, and continues to be rough.

Can be quite quick-tempered, as well as distrusting (though she tries to work past it). Terrified of the responsibility that has been heaped upon her, on making things worse (especially as Imbued figurehead).

Jaya has a tendency to balance on stuff for absolutely no reason at all, like a perching bird, likely stemming from her superhuman balance.

Contacts & Relations
Jaya is especially close to her fellows among the Unbroken, though she tries to maintain close relationships with others as well, and considers numerous other superheroes (and vigilantes) as allies or even friends. She also has numerous contacts in the Imbued community, with whom she can coordinate to ensure she doesn't screw up (too badly, at least) as Imbued figurehead.
Romantically, Jaya has very little experience with relationships. When she was younger, she was under constant pressure to hide part of herself, recovering from the abusive household she came from. Now that she’s older and part of the Unbroken, she’s fairly busy, but open to dating.
Family Ties
Jaya has no ties with her family, and was never on good standing with them. She was an accidental child, and while her parents were happy to keep her, it didn’t last when it turned out she was an Imbued. She grew up resented and resentful, and things never got better. Jaya’s parents moved from the small town where she was born to the big city, cutting contact with their family to hide their accident, and refused to contact them when Jaya turned out to be Imbued.
Wealth & Financial state
Fairly wealthy: the Unbroken are paid well, and have plenty of valuable assets (their headquarters and gear, for example). Much of their money is donated to charities and good causes, but the Unbroken are still solid middle-class, able to afford big purchases without having to sweat.
