Swift Comet
Harper Florencio Everbell (a.k.a. Swift Comet)
A teenage vigilante known as Swift Comet, Harper Everbell was born and raised in Verdant Grove. The child of two Imbued parents, Harper naturally inherited a mixture of their powers, and begun displaying them at an early age. But while their parents always hid their powers, brought up in a world where Imbued were looked down upon... Harper didn't want to do the same. With The Unbroken coming into public view while Harper was just 6, public opinion soon improved.
Of course, if Harper showed their powers, that would attract potentially dangerous attention not just to them, but also their younger brother and both of their mothers. And while Harper themself was fine with people knowing about their powers, knowing them as Imbued... they knew their mothers felt differently. A lifetime of fear and hiding doesn't just go away, after all. In the end, it was their brother who suggested the solution: for them to go out as vigilantes instead. It was a two birds, one stone solution: publicly using their powers, and fighting crime to improve the city and help others! Their mothers might not be as thrilled about it all, but, well. At least the two of them told their mothers, instead of trying to keep it a secret.
Physical Description
Special abilities
Imbued Powers
- Photokinesis: Harper has only inherited part of their mother’s powers over light – they can solidify it or use it in rays and blasts, but can’t negate or create it. If locked in a dark room, their powers over light are useless (or severely weakened, as it’s almost impossible to get a room 100% dark)
- Adaptive muscle memory: the ability to (flawlessly) replicate a movement after observation. And yes, this includes skills Harper has seen in video games that probably aren’t 100% feasible in real life. The less realistic, the harder Harper has to try to mimic it fully, and the more practice it takes.
- Enhanced speed: Harper can move at higher speeds than regular humans.
- Enhanced reflexes: in part thanks to their ability to move faster, Harper has faster reflexes than Mundane humans.
- Enhanced memory: Harper’s memory is better than that of most people. If they try, they can commit just about anything to memory and flawlessly recall it later.
Apparel & Accessories
With both them and their brother growing rapidly thanks to teenage growth spurts, both members of the Dazzling Duo are known for their rather hodge-podge costumes. They're in no way professionals either, and thus have no access to those material, never mind enough of them to keep up with their growth. Instead they use more casual costumes, easily patched up and adjusted to their growing bodies.
Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Harper knows they're nonbinary, but hasn't quite figured out labels yet. But then, they are still young, and still exploring their gender. Maybe they'll pick something in the future, maybe they won't.
Education
Harper is currently a high school student, attending the same school as their younger brother, Rafael.
Personality Characteristics
Virtues & Personality perks
Harper tends to be the more victim-facing member of their vigilante duo, with a gentler personality than their brother (though they are still a teenager and prone to normal teenage shenanigans). They're typically calm and sympathetic, even compassionate. In the field (and their daily life, of course) they're intuitive and wise, picking things up quickly and using that knowledge effectively. They're artistic, favoring music over other forms of art, as well.
Vices & Personality flaws
Harper's soft heart and compassion can be a weakness, too. They're often quick to trust, and can be too trusting. They care much about the people the Duo (try to) help, and fail to help, and is strongly affected by failure. They can also be fearful and overly cautious, and sad, including about circumstances they had no hand in or couldn't help with.
