Zephyr
Valentino "Val" Segreti (a.k.a. Zephyr)
Valentino Segreti, born as Valeria Silvana Segreti, is best known as the hero Zephyr. One of the main members of The Unbroken, he is open about his status as a trans man, set on being a positive example for people like himself. His willingness to speak up about the topic, and his own experiences, has had a notably positive impact on the public's perception of trans people.
As a hero, Zephyr's status is a little dubious. Though he is Mundane, he fights with a rapier enchanted with Aether, making him appear to be Imbued. In the decade since he became active Zephyr's status as Mundane has become public knowledge, but many still consider him to be borderline Imbued.
Physical Description
Body Features
Thin and lanky, Val is pale skinned and all thin muscle, like an acrobat. Definitely has some tattoos on him. Pretty graceful things with a dramatic air. Most notable are the ones on his chest, covering his top surgery scars.
Apparel & Accessories
Val’s costumes have all been similar in design. White with red and blue details, stylized like a suit or a magician’s costume; elegant and dramatic.
Specialized Equipment
Val is best characterized by his sword, the Eye of the Storm. It's an ancient family relic, a rapier, which passed from parent to (eldest) child. Val received training their whole life to follow their mother’s footsteps… until he came out as trans. He stole the sword when he ran away, later discovering it to be magical in nature. Or, well, 'magical', since it functions using Aether, just like anyone with superpowers would.

Personal history
Born in Italy but moved to America at a young age. His parents, from a highly traditional family with a special magical relic, had planned on having more children after Val. Unfortunately for them, however, something went wrong after his birth, and they had to make do with their one child. When Val didn’t fall in line quite as well as they had wished—insisting he was male instead of female, and other such things—they mistreated him rather badly.
In the end, he ran away, stealing the relic that had been promised to him since birth, but withheld until he behaved better. He ran into the Unbroken soon after, though the team at the time counted only two members: Jaya and April. During his travels with the team, Val mostly went by, well, Val, shortening his name while he was thinking over a name to change to. The nickname stuck even after he decided on Valentino, used by those closest to him.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Val considers him running away from home, and taking the ancient family relic with him, to be his greatest accomplishment in life. It was the first moment he got to make his life his own, led to him even being able to achieve anything else but be his parents' puppet.
In lesser accomplishments, he also counts joining the Unbroken very highly, and unlocking the true nature of his sword. And, though it has yet to happen, adopting his daughter will also rank very highly indeed.
Personality Characteristics
Virtues & Personality perks
Val is somewhat goofy and quirky, and very theatrical. He’s stupendously dramatic, but in a playful way. Jokes a lot. Can get into bouts of heavy thought, and it can be hard to snap him out of those – although a well-placed joke usually does the job.
Vices & Personality flaws
Most of Val's virtues can work against him, too. Jokes can be ill-timed, goofiness can be distracting, and his bouts of serious thought can—as mentioned—be difficult to get him out of.
