Queen Nyselle Zelise

Queen Nyselle Zelise is the ruler of the Kingdom of Asturg. She is a mature matriarch with blonde and silver hair, and her face is wrinkled like a dried apple. She has small bright eyes and a wry smile, with an air of both confidence and amusement, though she can be cantankerous at times. Nyselle is known for her wit and sarcasm. She has a stout figure and wears the brocade robes of her office, leaning heavily on the royal staff. The Queen is elderly, and has been on the throne for a long time, made weary by the weight of rule. She became Queen a few years after the War of the Needles and is dedicated to serving her country and her role as queen. When young, she was considered quite the beauty. Her choice of consort, a commoner bard named Gren Brenburn, was controversial at court, where usually the queen's consort is an important member of the court or related to one, or even occasionally from another royal family. Nyselle was headstrong though and chose Gren. This has led to schisms in her court, with some factions working against her, feeling slighted and convinced this was her attempt to give their power to the commoners. She is well-liked by the common people- with them, her choice was a popular move. She has had four children with Gren, three girls and one boy. As a human at age 102 years old, she won't be on the throne much longer.
