Reign

Became King in his Teens. Many of his enemies speculate that he never matured past being a teen. His first wife was his childhood love, and she tempered his rough edges. He was never the same after she died. He has spent an inordinate amount of resources in an effort to expand the Skatzingrad Empire, with limited success. He did take control of the D'Vigion Lands early in his reign, but he has never felt solid on keeping them under his control (with good reason). Most of his subjects live in fear of the rages of the King.

History

Leopold had loved Agatha since they were children. Agatha never cared much for the crown prince, but when he came demanding her hand in marriage, her family felt they could not refuse.
While they were married until her death in 1067, Agatha was unhappy for most of that time. She did not reveal that in public, but sought to undermine her husband from behind the scenes. She attempted to instill a strong sense of justice in her young children, though she passed before they were old enough to absorb those lessons.

History

Esme is a power hungry social climber who moved in after the death of Lady Agatha. She pushed the King, claiming his children and his people needed a mother. She and her family have been pushing into more and more powerful roles in government ever since, and Leopold has let them, not seeing the harm in doing so. When Esme is happy, she stays out of his way.
