Black Powder

Black powder is a chemical explosive primarily used as a propellant in firearms. Currently, it is only manufactured by the Directorate of Firearms within [Bastiynia's](organization:152a6adb-eae6-4900-b2be-2ce98553c65e) Department of Discovery.

History

Gunpowder was discovered on 3 Hammer 855 by the Department of Discovery during Rilitar Glyntoris's expedition to an ancient underground ruin within the Inferno Peaks. Within weeks the DoD agent, Essaerae Aevaris, reversed engineered its chemical composition, allowing the republic to manufacture it themselves. It was first announced publicly during The Grand Reveal.
In early Mirtul 855, Bastiynia began licensing private manufacturers of firearms while the republic maintained control over black powder production.

Production

Currently known only by a few within the Department of Discovery, black powder can be crafted by slowly mixing specific proportions of three key ingredients.

• 75% saltpetre
• 15% charcoal
• 10% sulfur
