Emperor It'varkei
It'varkei acknowledges the facts of the Divine Barrier, there are too many records that show consistent detail for the Gods to not exist, he doesn't, however, revere or worship them as others might. The Gods are no longer their masters. Locked behind the Barrier as they are, they are as unimportant to him as a man who cannot connect to the aether. As far as the Empire's citizens are concerned, however, the Entharians as a whole value a handful of "natural" Gods most highly. After all, it is the Magarch that should be the voice when it comes to law or order, not a God.
Physical Description
It'varkei is a hard man, even when standing on the palace balconies and waving at his people, he doesn't smile. Wrinkles have begun to marr his skin, although he has lasted a couple of decades longer than most, purely genetic, although it is a commonly held belief that it is his vast well of natural aether that keeps him young.
As expected for the Magarch, It'varkei adorns himself in the dark blue robes, adorned with golden filigree on hem and collar, that represent the highest of their society. As Magarch, his robes should have the most gold in any room, and he enjoys (inwardly) watching guests flee if they misjudged their outfit for the night when he is feeling particularly simplistic. When in his private chambers in Skaverat, where only a choice few are allowed entrance, he favours simple, long cut robes in dark blacks and greys, typically in silk or the softest fabrics. It's not for comfort exactly, but it is for sensation.
Personality Characteristics
It'varkei is currently the most powerful mage in the Empire, and he intends to keep it that way. There has never been anything he desired more than power. Friendship, love, nothing compares to the heady, intoxicating feeling of speaking and knowing that everyone will submit. There were others more powerful than It'varkei, but he never intended to allow them close enough to stand trial in front of the Vekriser.
Social
Emperor It'varkei has been a driving force behind the outlawing of Shiften communities in the Enthar Empire. Selling the ability as both "unnatural" and "unknown", It'varkei utilises his people's insular nature, and their close memories of their failed attempts to cross the sea to occupy Tinobi, by turning the native Shiften communities into merely offshoots of the foreign Tinobian Shiften. Any records documenting the long history of Shiften on Enthar, dating back to long before the Empire's expansion, now seem to support Emperor It'varkei's assertion.
Beyond this, It'varkei has an incredible mind for commerce and has brought the Enthar Empire out of near-financial ruin after the reign of the previous Magarch Oret'serv, who had his head still turned towards expanding the Empire, despite many failed attempts and the floundering of his own people thanks to an unseasonably hot summer that disrupted many of their agricultural communities.
It'varkei has a handful of Shiften he considers "pets", although few beyond the Vekriser are aware of his particular proclivities. At the moment, his favourite pet is a young Kelvar Shiften named Aldka'lechtv. Aldka's first Shift form, the Kelvar, being a small, white, fox-like mammal endemic to the tundra regions of the Enthar Empire, It'varkei is considering allowing Aldka to learn and second form of his choosing.
First, I super like the sound / look of the names. Nicely done! And the dude all by himself sounds -so much fun-. My kinda jam. We're you thinking of me when you made him? >;] I'm curious what all he does to ensure that he remains / is the most powerful. That sounded deliciously ominous.
