Seeker Operative

SERD Seekers are highly self-sufficient and trusted individuals, tasked with searching for anomalies, identifying threats, brokering relationships with other species, and reporting all back as-and-when necessary.

Career

Career Progression

SERD operates as a pseudo-military aspect. Because of this, prior to selection and promotion to Seeker, the individual will likely have progressed through a military service or other multi-role career path.

While this is common amogst those who become Seeker Operatives, the role itself does not carry many at a time. Given the autonomous nature of the profession, Seeker crew (if they choose to have any) have the potential to be inducted and promoted into SERD; becoming Seekers through non-traditional means.

Career progression at Seeker level does also exist, though is seen more as a measure of capability and affects remuneration. These tiers are listed from lowest-highest ranking as: D, C, B, A, and S classes. Other class designations exist, but are reserved for crewmembers serving under the Seeker.

Payment & Reimbursement

Seeker Operatives are paid considerably well, depending on prior ranking and years of service. Depending on the nature of their finds and reports, or relationships they have forged with other species; bonuses tend to be forthcoming.

The real value to a Seeker, however, is that all needs are paid for outside of their own remuneration. This includes ship repair, fuel, restocking of supplies, food, and crew salary.

Other Benefits

Of all the SERD operative positions, the Seeker offers the most benefits to those assigned the position.
The most notable benefit is autonomy. Seeker Operatives are permitted self-governance within their mission parameters, able to venture out and simply send reports back when necessary.
Seekers are provided their own ship with full permissions to acquire and maintain their own crew, without limitation.
Seekers are held in the highest regard by Terran descendants, and by the majority of alien governments - often acting as emissaries and brokers to maintain spacial interspecies-relations.
