Ajira is often depicted as a golden, radiant figure with a hooded face extending their hands from above. They often have multiple sets of large, feathered wings.   

Personality

Ajira exhibits a dual nature of warmth and detachment. They tend to be kind and gentle, willing to offer wisdom to those who seek it. To worshippers, they offer guidance and protection. However, Ajira can be... aloof. They are driven by a high, almost unattainable standard of purity and innocence. Thus, their decisions can seem harsh or indifferent under the guise of a greater good.

The symbol for Ajira is usually a hand reaching down from above as if offering help, surrounded by radiant beams of light.  

Followers

Ajira is followed by those who seek solace in forgiveness and the light of redemption. Her followers often include healers, peacemakers, parents, and even judges.  

Philosophies

The core belief of Ajira's followers is that light will always overcome darkness, though never completely. They believe in the protection of innocence and the importance of mercy, even in the face of evil. No soul is beyond redemption, and no action is too vile to be forgiven. However, Ajira’s followers believe that seeking forgiveness falsely, is unforgivable.  

Rituals

Worships traditionally take place at dawn and dusk, where light and darkness meet. Worshippers pray for guidance, protection, and the strength to forgive those who have wronged them.  

Exemplars

Ajira almost exclusively chooses children as temporary exemplars, never channeling through one host for long. These children are imbued with a fraction of Ajira's light, perform miraculous deeds, and deliver messages of hope before Ajira's presence gently fades from them.

Their interactions with other deities are cordial but distant, as Ajira focuses on their work with unwavering dedication.   That said, Ajira’s light often clashes with the darkness of ___. While their domains are oppositional, they try to exist in a balance: light cannot exist without darkness to define it. Their interactions are a dance of contrasts, often leading to conflicts that test the boundaries of their influences but also moments of unexpected cooperation.   They also have a complex relationship with Luxes, as their work often overlaps, yet their methods differ. Where Luxes demands retribution, Ajira offers mercy.

Unique Spells or Boons

Yes, some of the these can be a bit powerful. They are meant to be earned, bestowed by the god through roleplay. (That means they are not available from character creation.) Similarly, they can be taken away if a character does something against the god's wishes or principles.  

Ajira’s Gentle Glow

  • Abjuration cantrip
  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: Touch
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 1 hour
  • Components: V, S
  • You touch a creature, and a soft light emanates from your hand. The creature gains temporary hit points equal to your spellcasting ability modifier, and has advantage on saving throws against being frightened or charmed for the duration.
 

Mercy’s Embrace

  • 3rd-level abjuration
  • Casting Time: 1 action
  • Range: 30 feet
  • Duration: Concentration, up to 10 minutes
  • Components: V, S, M (a feather from a white dove)
  • You envelop a willing creature within range in a radiant aura of light. The target regains hit points equal to 6d8 + your spellcasting ability modifier and is cured of any diseases, blindness, deafness, and poisons. For the duration, the target is immune to being charmed, or frightened. However, the target is also unable to attack, cast harmful spells, or take any aggressive actions for the duration. If the target takes damage, this effect ends.
 

Epic Boon: Radiant Mercy

Once per day, when a creature within 60 feet of you drops to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction to invoke Ajira’s light to restore them to life with full hit points. However, using this boon permanently reduces your maximum hit points by 1d10. This reduction can only be reversed by a wish spell or similarly powerful magics.
