Draenysis

Fifth of Six Sisters, Draenysis is the Goddess of Halfings, Roads, and Luck. Optimistic but quiet, the Adventure Goddess is often thought to be more content to be among the mortals of T'sara than with other Gods.

Divine Domains

with Halflings so disparate and spread out, finding dedicated places of worship for her are rare; usually confined with large cities in which halflings have a sizable presence. With no overarching organization or structure, the form of buildings and worship can vary greatly. It is common for those on long journeys, such as merchants, to pray to Draenysis for safe travels, with monuments or idols of her created near the outside of towns. She is generally prayed to throughout T'sara for good luck across all manner of circumstances.   Although by no means a church, the Pathfinder's Society has aligned itself well to Draenysis' views of adventure and discovery, and she has publicly supported and blessed the international society with her approval and fortune.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Draenysis, like all gods, does not have a stationary appearance, and will shift her appearance to look like any being of her halfling race. She is unique among the Six Sisters that she alone walked T'sara in a mortal form before she created life. What form she may have taken had been lost to time even by the Fey Crisis. She seems to choose to appear as average and unassuming as possible; wishing to present in the world without anyone knowing she's there. Still, one of her apparent preferences is to manifest with exceptionally curly hair, which is by no means so rare to make it obvious

Identifying Characteristics

Beyond her appearance, when Draenysis manifests on T'sara, she is typically seen with a walking stick.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Draenysis was slow to create anything. Partially, the Goddess was timid, a trait rarely found in the others. Even Ihstar, Goddess of Innocence and Beauty showed some form of courage to venture her ideas. Another part, perhaps larger, was the degree to which she was impressed with her divine siblings and what they had created. She was too fascinated with the world of T'sara and it's marvels, big and small, to think of creating anything to it. She figured she would journey the world through the eyes and experience of a mortal, enjoying what it had to offer, in hopes that it would bring inspiration. Little did she know that the Goddess had, inadvertently, created something after all. Travel, and specifically adventure; the desire to see and experience the world as a means of self improvement, would become her great creation, one that Elves, Humans, Dwarves, and Orcs alike would joy in doing, and doing together.   Having found some success, Draenysis sought to create a mortal life to join the others. They would look very similar to the humans, but smaller and more nimble. Fleet of foot, they would be able to cross country quickly and with minimal burden or disturbances. They were a marked change from the thinking of Quargh's Orcs or Hjanda's Dwarves, which were created with strength in mind. Goddesses and mortals alike were skeptical at first, finding that nearly all of T'sara had been claimed, and that these new beings seemed hardly the type to vie for the regions nobody else wanted. Skeptics would be pacified in short order, when they found two traits about these new Halflings. First, they were generally uninterested in laying claim to any part of land; with most only wishing to claim a space to make their home. Though they would be small and comparatively weaker of body, everyone would be surprised to find that they were as mentally resilient to change and hardship as any other soul.   As an extra guarantee for the survival of halflings, and any other being, she created the aspect of Luck; rare and unpredictable chance that would affect those for good or ill, often unexplicably. It would be a great equalizer she thought, especially when she would bestow good luck on the halflings; making great care to not disclose this to any mortal soul or divinity. It was feared by some that this idea of Luck was of the Fey, and that it's chaotic nature would attract wrong attention. Draenysis was emphatic that she had not drawn from wild energy, or that her creation would attract attention from outside T'sara.   Emphatic as she might be, the Fey still came, and sought to destroy this abomination of energy turned into reality. The halflings were a minor concern to the Fey, who were more interested in toppling the lives and structures of 'the big folk'. Still, the monsters that the fey created and unleashed on the world spared noone, and the halflings proved the most vulnerable of the five. Still, seeing the whole world as their home and all mortals as their kin, they showed incredible bravery in face of danger.   With Veserae's holy sacrifice to keep the Fey at bay forever, and the land of T'sara forever scarred, Draenysis returned to her previous calling. Where the other Goddesses, especially the Sisters, had retracted away from the lives of mortals for a time, the Goddess of Adventure found that she was needed more now than ever, and that the people of T'sara needed to see her and her characteristic optimistic charm and warmth.

Sexuality

The sexuality of Draenysis is largely unknown, as she seems to have been one of the most immune to the divinely lustful influence of Veserae. Claims of romantic escapades with her are fewer than even with Varissa, and those are often from sources of questionable reliability. Some suspect that she masks her identity perfectly as a mortal so that none may ever know it's her. Another interpretation is that she only is physical with those she has close emotional ties to, which at this point would restrict her to the other Gods. A minor position is that she has no sex drive at all. Such notions are strange, given that the Immortal Child Phoenicia has been known to manifest as an aroused teenager in extremely rare circumstances.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Draenysis is one of the few souls, mortal or godly, to ever see all of T'sara. She made a point to do so on foot as a mortal would, a journey which captivated the attention of all who lived at the time. She has revisited her favorite locations multiple times, and enjoys seeing how places have changed over the Three Ages.

Failures & Embarrassments

The utter blindness Draenysis had to the vulnerabilities of Halflings was an embarrassment that she felt for centuries. Had she not been so narrowly focused on the purpose that she created them to fulfill, more of them could have survived the Crisis. After repeated reassuarances from Quarggh that no other Goddess had thought to consider something like the Fey, she is no worse than any other. The Orcs being adept at fighting against the Fey and their monstrous hordes was "lucky".

Personality Characteristics

Motivation

Draenysis seems most content of the Sisters with the state of T'sara. She wishes to see the violence and fueds be brought to an end, same as the others, but otherwise sees little wrong with the world as it is. Some suspect that the T'sara post Crisis offers more Adventure to its inhabitants than it did before. While this could be true, it also means that there is a far greater degree of danger and threats to the average mortal, and that Draenysis is content with that.
