The Ruins of Ipsola
The last building standing of the Stewards of Ipsola from the First Age, the ruins have been refurbished and a new school created in their image
Purpose / Function
The building was originally a watchtower and library for the Stewards of Ipsola, a group of wizards dedicated to defeating evil, monitoring threats, and delving deeper into the mysteries of magic. After more than age of disregard, the building has been retrofitted to serve as an academy.
Alterations
Despite the structures age, it is incredibly well kept, and did not require any substantive reworking. Most changes that have taken place are internal; adding or removing walls to suit their new purpose. The Library is the only space that has been left completely unaltered. Spaces that were meant as guard towers have been used for offices, armories or storehouses have been turned into classrooms.
Architecture
The architecture is mostly circular buildings built of durable stone quarried from the surrounding desert. The exteriors have been painted through magicacl means, allowing for bright and strong colors of blue, gold, and white, that could not be created from the natural resources nearby.
Defenses
The academy building does not have any active defenses, although the thick stone walls could serve to protect individuals from disasters and attack. There are facets in the outer walls that show large gems or crystals used to be embedded, which may have provided magical protection as well.
