Bane of Mythenar

The Bane of Mythenar (sometimes known as the Rage of Neryn) was powerful ocean storm that was supposedly responsible for the destruction of the Sea Elf kingdom of Mythenar. According to myth, this disaster occured around two centuries before the fall of the empire of Ithyria, with Elven scholars at the time believing it to have been a portent of a great calamity that would befall the entirety of their empire (which came in the death of their last emperor and the Ithyrian War of Succession that followed).

According to legend, the kingdom of Mythenar, which occupied a small group of islands within the sea between Imera and Vraelia, was a centre of learning within the Ithyrian empire, rivalling even the heartland of Caelora, and further bolstered by its maritime trade. While the research conducted within Mythenar was initially benevolent in its intent, it gradually became more focused on furthering the power and glory the Great Houses who ruled over the region, eventually catching the attention of the Elari themselves. While it's still debated whether the storm that followed was the result of Neryn, the Elari of Water, directly taking action against the Sea Elves of Mythenar to stop them from becoming a threat to the world, or if it resulted from an expirement that ended disasterously, though the end result remains the same: the kingdom of Mythenar, islands and all, sank beneath the sea. While such a storm has not been seen anywhere in Taeva since, it's impact continues to be felt centuries later.

Manifestation

The Bane of Mythenar was a massive storm consisting of powerful hurricanes, destructive lightning strikes, and massive waves, all of which wore away at the island until it sank beneath the sea.

Localization

The Bane of Mythenar was localised to the sea between Imera and Vraelia, and was centered on the supposed location of Mythenar.
