Council of Lords

The Council of Lords is a group consisting of the heads of the major clans of Dwarven society, and one of the oldest surviving factions in Durfaehn. First formed somewhere around the height of the old Dwarven Empires power, this group exists to provide council to the reigning High King/Queen in matters concerning the Dwarvish people, as well as to provide the means for the major clans to settle disputes among themselves without resorting to conflicts that would only bring more harm to their people. With its long history with the the Dwarven monarchy, as well as the combined influence, wealth, and prestige its members, the council occupies a place of great power and influence in Dwarvish society, beneath only the High King/Queen themselves.

Structure

While all members of the council are of the same rank, some members hold more sway than others thanks to their personal assets and/or clan history. Regardless, all council members rank below the High King/Queen, who often has the final say in council matters.

Culture

The well-being of Dwarven society is the greatest concern of the council and its members. To that end, they seek to provide good counsel to the reigning High King/Queen, so that all Dwarven society would prosper under their reign, and to provide the means for the clans, both major and minor, to settle disputes amongst themselves peacefully, so that they aren't consumed by conflict and blood-feuds. Additionally, the members of the council have been known to share their resources and assets with one another in times of need, in order to maintain a sense of cooperation among the clans.

Public Agenda

The purpose of the council is to advise the High King/Queen in matters concerning the Dwarven people, and to allow the major clans to settle disputes without resorting to conflict.

Assets

Each member of the council has the backing of whatever assets their clan holds, including wealth, territory, and reputation. In times of great need, members of the council have also been known to share their resources with one another.
