Loughal (Low-all)
Located on the outer regions of the Elderwood, Loughal is a logging settlement within Ulfgard. Home to the Elderwood Lumberyard, it's also one of the biggest sources of Faewood.
Government
The town is overseen by the mayor, who answers to the king and collects taxes on their behalf.
Defences
The town proper is surrounded by stone walls patrolled by guards, with watchtowers a short distance away to provide advanced warning. Additionally, there's a small garrison located at the lumberyard to protect the workers there.
Industry & Trade
As a logging town, Loughal makes its fortune through the lumber industry. In particular, it's one of the few places that harvest Faewood, a form of magically enhanced wood native to the Elderwood, often used in the creation of magic staves and wands. This has drawn in a number of Mages seeking to purchase specially crafted magic focuses.
Infrastructure
Like all modern settlements, the town of Loughal has a well maintained road network (with the road between the lumberyard and town being particularly well cared for) and a system for delivering clean water to its inhabitants. Additionally, the lumberyard is stocked with well maintained logging tools, including saws and carts for transporting lumber.
Assets
Loughal has a moderately sized garrison of guards, a treasury for storing coin, logging and woodcarving equipment, and a moderately sized market for trade.
Architecture
The buildings of Loughal are constructed primarily from wood, though some have elements of stone incorporated into them.
Geography
Since it's located at the edge of the Elderwood, the area surrounding Loughal is a mix of plains and forests, with the nearby lumberyard being surrounded by trees.
Natural Resources
The town of Loughal has access to a large supply of wood from the forest, including the valuable Faewood.
