Radiant Codex

Considered to be the most sacred text in the possession of the Church of the Radiant Saints, the book now known as the Radiant Codex (sometimes known as the Book of Light) was instrumental in its foundation. First written during the early days of Human civilisation on the continent of Imera, the Radiant Codex was created with the intent of organising the various early beliefs and philosophies that collectively made up the early human faith known as the Way of the Light, in an effort to unify the scattered human tribes throughout the continent. These writtings would go on to form the foundations of the Radiant Church, which remains one of the most influential organisations among the human kingdoms of Imera, and is responsible for directly and indirectly influencing their development.

Purpose

The Radiant Codex was first written to preserve the various teachings of the Way of the Light, which served as the foundation of the Church of the Radiant Saints.

Document Structure

Publication Status

The original Radiant Codex remains in the sole custody of the Grand Cathedral, though copies are distributed to the smaller cathedrals throughout the human kingdoms.

Historical Details

Background

The creation of the Radiant Codex was created in an attempt to bring together the many disparate teachings and schools of thought that made up the early faith known as the Way of the Light, in an effort to unite the scattered human tribes through a common system of beliefs.

History

According to historical records, in the time before the creation of the Radiant Codex, early human civilisation venerated the Creator through the various Elari they charged with stewarding the Mortal Realm. Among these beliefs, those that venerated the Creator through Archaiel, the Empyrean Elari of Light, as well as the lesser Elari that served with them, were the most widespread, forming what is now commonly known as the Way of the Light, considered to be an early precursor to the Radiant Church. It was these beliefs that the woman who would be known as Saint Aione chose to gather together as a single, organised faith, hoping that such a feat would give the human tribes scattered throughout the continent a common ideology to unite behind. The writtings contained within the Codex would eventually go on to become the founding teachings of the Radiant Church, whose influence remains a binding tie between the various human kingdoms of Imera well into the current era.

Public Reaction

While the creation of the Codex was successful in its goal of bringing together the various beliefs and philosophies of the early humans, there were those who gravitated more towards certain virtues/teachings over others, which may have had a hand in the cultural development of the various human kingdoms.

Legacy

The Radiant Codex remains one of the most important texts to the Radiant Church. It's creation is also credited as one of Saint Aione's greatest achievements, and is seen as a major factor in her becoming the "Founding Saint" of the Church.
