Though Sabellis boasts no slums, Brokechariot is the city’s poorest area, home to many from farming families who prefer the comforts of urban living. The area was built up during the Eannelk Occupation (707-598) and a good portion of its populace still hold Northern names, if softened over time to become more pronounceable in Draksi. However, centuries of cultural adaptation have stripped the community of most other signs of Arlokian heritage. Most businesses here – e.g. barbershops, launderers, bathhouses, tailors – support other, richer areas of town, and are not standout mercantile points of interest. Of course, if one is looking for work rather than retail therapy, Byakhä Small Jobs is the perfect place to go - and, for would-be taskmasters, about the only one around where one may secure day labour. Workers are typically shipped out to the Shirtegori farmlands just outside of the city to aid with planting and tilling. A large storehouse in the district keeps the literal fruits of these labours dry and out of the reach of pests for the city’s general consumption. Just outside The Stumbling Drunk - hands-down the city’s seediest bar – stands an impressive bronze sculpture, "The Hero of the Fields". Commissioned by the Davinets from the workshop of the renown Skhannikp G̀a, the statue was intended as a highly public celebration of the underclasses. The locals remark it’s just one more thing to clean pigeon shit off of.
