Hoˈfeina
The Hoˈfeina are the dominant culture in the nation of Fierthain, outnumbering the secondmost populous group, the Xūrtuū, by approximately double. They are part of the large, Colmerhæd-speaking swathe of nations led by Cerlin, but stand out among them are an especially proud and noble people, known for their rich cultural heritage and deep spiritual traditions.
The Hoˈfeina make their capital at Swistallach, north of the primary Xūrtuū settlement of Callo Cro Sede. The town is an important stop along a trade route running through the interior, and one of the only places in Fierthain frequented by non-locals. It was established by the earliest pioneers to travel so far east on the continent, to provide access to the Fangbrush, a heavily forested area where the Hoˈfeina originally worked as loggers, but as the group's financial success increased, the heavy work was overtaken by the Xūrtuū, and a related, culture situated in Chillwind proper, the Eˈddeimron.
Like most of Rajan, the Ho'feina hold to a set of practices collectively known as The Old Tradition - Kəð Sisˈga, a diverse and flexible faith incorporating a number of gods and goddesses. So do the Xūrtuū - but a few of their religious views are just different enough to create a slight sense of tension between the two groups. Despite this, the two cultures coexist peacefully in Fierthain, and there is a good deal of trade and exchange between them.
The Hoˈfeina are known for their vibrant oral culture, which is steeped in their unique history, and storytellers are a common source of wisdom and entertainment. They are also skilled craftsmen and artisans, especially fond of whittling and carving, and occasionally small baubles of their make find their way onto a trade caravan, though in the main, people practice native crafts for personal delight rather than financial gain. This squares very much with the Hoˈfeina philosophy of life in general, and those within the society are generally free to pursue their own goals without judgement, so long as they do not sufficiently contradict with the well-being of others.
