Kivad Ildarlae, Duke of Odureas
Duke Kivad Ildarlae, symbolized by the stalwart stag against the vibrant green of his family's crest, embodies the spirit of Odureas. As the leader of this northern Duchy, Kivad's practical nature and devotion to his people are rooted in the dense forestry that encapsulates the region.
While Kivad is a devout follower of the Congregation of the Ascended, his beliefs are tempered with ideas from the Läänti reformists. This blend of the traditional and the reformist, which echoes the Arlokian strain of thought, has formed a unique and harmonious perspective that deeply resonates with the Odurean people.
Known for his uncanny ability to remember names, regardless of how brief or long ago the encounter, Kivad has earned a reputation that extends beyond the borders of his Duchy. This idiosyncrasy, along with his active participation in the community and his sincere interest in his people's well-being, has solidified his place in the hearts of Odureans.
Yet, not all of Kivad's relationships are so amiable. One longstanding grudge exists between him and the Duke of the far-off Duchy of Castamomera, Os Vildun. Decades ago, during a diplomatic visit there, Kivad and Os engaged in a high-stakes game of Teth, a popular card game. Kivad, thinking he held the winning hand (and slightly in his cups by that point), wagered a symbolic treasure of Odureas, the historic Stag Amulet. To his shock, Os revealed an unbeatable hand.
The loss was more than just a material one for Kivad. The Stag Amulet represented Odurean pride and resilience, and its loss at a game of chance was a bitter pill to swallow. This incident has strained their relationship ever since, with Kivad seeking to reclaim the amulet and restore the pride of his Duchy.
