Red Ember
Due to their proximity to the Grand Temple, the smiths of Red Ember like to joke they are closer to the gods than anyone else in Sabellis. This slightly irreverent humour is typical of the crafting class at large, but not quite as frivolous as some might think; for indeed, more Aspects are associated with their profession and the act of fashioning things in general than with most other fields. Icons of the Locked Door, and the Key; The Crossed Swords; The Cracked Colossus; The Drunken Potter; The Thief’s Blooded Dagger; The Broken Speare; and the Countenance Bejewelled prominently adorn the district’s forges, studios, and shops. All business in the area is overseen by the Guild House of Smiths, hands down the most influential of crafting groups on account of the military application of metalwork: Swords, shields, and armour are produced by Eagle Armories for the city’s watch, the nation’s military, and exported to Draksineon’s allies, resulting in a tidy profit. The Zmagek family owns the other large foundry, which makes nearly everything else. And for everything from filigree to statuary, one need look no further than Goldfine Crafts. The one sore point among the Masters here is that the mantle for stonecarving excellence is held not by Sabellis, but Augulaspes, as the presence of natural marble in the latter Duchy has made it easier to hone this art.
