Treasure Box
Prior to Eannelk Occupation (707-598), Treasure Box was full of warehouses, not the embassies it contains today. Ambassadors in early Drakoyan culture were made members of a ruler’s family and invited to stay in the lord’s manor, not placed in outside domeciles, which, regardless of grandeur, would have been viewed as rudely insufficient. The Eannelks held different views about personal space and found it more fitting to have foreign dignitaries stay in lavish accommodations, but at arms length, and so transformed the large wooden warehouses into buildings of lasting stone for the purpose. After ousting the Eannelks, the Sunset Emperors opted to keep them, due to simple pragmatics. Arlos, Ceweren, and Galori – nations with which Draksineon has closest ties – have permanent offices here. As the Drakoyan people trace their heritage to the land of Beurin, Beuri diplomats occupy several floors of the residences for visiting dignitaries on a near-permanent basis. Though Rello's financial power is inseparable from the Drakoyan economy, envoys from this nation prefer to board within the Treasury of Ocophel, slightly north of the city’s Shooting Star district. Increased trade with Del has resulted in petitions for a new, large-scale consular construction for this nation, although Sabellians’ general distrust of Delhizan types has delayed this project from moving ahead. The Embassies are highly guarded by both the city watch and privately retained soldiers. Each caters to some extent to the needs of their countrymen living in town but are for the most part concerned with larger matters, like political and economic negotiations. A social standing above middle class is typically required for entry.
