Yeˈdi

Shichulcan-speaking ethnic group dominant in Ilwe, a nation composed of the islands of Ilweh and Tacwadh.   The Ye'di trace their lineage to the nation of Qildab and the brunt of those living here arrived during the Reign of the Rainbow Chiefs, near on a thousand years ago, although small colonies along Tacwadh's southeastern coast preceded this period of drastic expansion and their founders accordingly established the most developed settlements here: the walls of Terecan, for example, have stood for well over a millenium and the city within is possessed of a exquisitely colourful culture, celebrating festivals of the Ocean Plume faith with higher fidelity to ancient custom than is done even in Qildab.   While culturally and religiously the Ye'di cleave to Qildabic ways, their language is heavily influenced by Jaadi, as spoken in Najamur, given its proximity to the islands. Najamur has also wrought an outsize influence on the local economy, its Askawar currency used exclusively here, and the success of business has meant that many Ngwëd merchants have moved from the mainland across the Tig'waas Harbour to set up shop. Generally, relations between they and the Ye'di are good, and both cultures have a solid familiarity with each other.   And because Ilwe is in fact closer than Qildab is to Najamur's more westerly territories, such as Ojoon, Ye'di enjoy a more central relationship with groups there claiming a similar ethnic background, such as the Őhā̋mȉ, Cunacayahup speakers living in among the Ngwëd, who would otherwise be cut off from their motherland by large swathes of desert overseen by a politically unfriendly regime. Trade and other forms of exchange are common between the two.
