Uthelin
Captain Uthelin (a.k.a. The Tide)
Uthelin is the eleventh child of Tai'San and Rinushka, one of the Princes of the Dawn. He is the commander of the Crimson Fleet and an experienced sailor.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Uthelin is a mountain of a man, only towered over by his eldest brother. He has rough, seaworn skin and a myriad of tattoos. Often at his side is his Keënai familiar Liborn.
Body Features
Uthelins body shows significant sings of adaptation to a life at sea. Unlike his descendents, which are strictly airbreathing, Uthelin is amphibious and has gills, which he proudly displays.
Facial Features
Uthelin has a broad nose and wide cheeks, adding to his sometimes intimidating look. His daring attitude is displayed by a mischievous twinkle in his light brown eyes.
Special abilities
Like all Princes of the Dawn, Uthelin is able to sustain a Meld, which he extends to his ship and the surrounding radius of one nautical mile.
Additionally, Uthelin has visions in his sleep, foretelling the dangers he and his crew may face in the coming week.
Apparel & Accessories
Uthelin wears linen under leather garb, which is cut for mobility and durability, designed to weather even the worst storm at sea. In combat Uthelin prefers a dual wield of a throwable handaxe and a shortsword. He prefers not to wear armor, because of the disadvantages it brings aboard a ship.

Uthelin owns a magical compass made by Thiora, which always points to where Liliethel lives.

Personal history
Much like his older sister Keorin, Uthelin had always felt the pull of the wide world, but more specifically he felt the call of the waves and the ocean. Ever since being granted his kin, Uthelin has set out to sea, sailing the world.
Sexuality
Uthelin is heterosexual. He was once in love with Liliethel, but things did not work out. Since then he occasionally has a relationship with people in the harbor his ship anchors in.
Like all Princes of the Dawn, Uthelin is content with his sexuality. It does not occur to them that others might not be.
Education
Uthelin was taught the way of the ways by the water nymphs who guard the edges of The Hearth. He built his first raft with thirteen and called it Dawn. The wood used for that raft now form the rudder of his flagship The Dawns Mother.
Accomplishments & Achievements
Uthelin was the first being after his parents to know the true shape of the world and to chart all its waters after finishing his first sail around the world. Since then he has only been bested twice in naval combat, a record he holds dear to his heart.
Intellectual Characteristics
Uthelin has a practical mind first and foremost. He is instinctively connected to the ship he is on, instantly understanding all the ailments and advantages it carries with itself.
He loves to keep his hands busy at all times, only ever sleeping when he can escape to the crows nest for a few hours at a time.

Uthelin is devoted to the principle of the sea. He knows that there is no room for error or weakness out on the water and that any mistake is very likely to be punished immediately.
As a result, Uthelin is a tough shipmaster but ultimately also fair in his judgements.
