Creation
Summary
Long ago, before there was any substance to the universe as we know it, ancient gods existed in a tumultuous realm of chaos. Without sight, without reasoning, these ancient beings moved and thrashed in the darkness until they would meet with another. The two beings of chaos would collapse on one another until one was destroyed. No concept of time existed to these creatures until two met who were of equal strength. When they met they pressed closer and closer until the two were merged, and then fragmented outwards in all directions. This fragmentation shattered the darkness and created what we now know as the planes as the pieces of this violent meeting struck other beings around them.
Some of these pieces, these Fragments of Creation entered the planes themselves and were buried for millennia, destroyed, or found by primordial beings and used to shape existence around them. The black chaos still exists outside the planes and remains inaccessible to mortal beings.
Historical Basis
Based on ancient texts and corroboration with living Deities, such as Valena, it is widely understood that, while lacking detail, this myth of creation most closely resembles the truth of what occurred in that time before time.
Spread
Most beings have heard the myth in one fashion or another, but of course it is nearly always told with words, phrases, and historical understanding as related to the culture telling it. The one constant are the Fragments of Creation.
In Art
Many artists have attempted to create their own visual renditions of Creation. The most famous in Aludel being the room in the Temple of Valena in Nordgurd which wraps itself around the walls, ceiling, and floors of the room to engulf the viewer and give them an added sense of unrest.
