Defences

Nordgurd's main defense is its outer wall. Fifty feet high and twenty feet thick, it wraps around the whole of Nordgurd and even extends out into the water. Within Nordgurd are many secondary walls keeping each district separate from one another.

Industry & Trade

Nordgurd spends a lot of money bringing goods into the city. In order to stay afloat, Nordgurd has a fairly heavy tax for merchants in the city which most are willing to pay, if not begrudgingly, in order to sell their goods in the bustling city.

Infrastructure

The Birdnest:

The Birdnest is a densely packed community of ramshackle buildings built with very little room between them on the exterior of the western wall of Nordgurd. On the ground, houses can layer on top of one another three, or even four stories high, but up against the wall houses are stacked nearly the full fifty feet in some places, and five to ten buildings thick.

Guilds and Factions

Cabar’s Cabal: What once were individual gangs and thieves is now a large group situated in a labyrinth of underground tunnels and caverns under The Docks.   In The Birdnest three main gangs control the area: The Gold Devils, lead by Aloth Birdiir, has focused on gathering riches for years and because of that has managed to buy out, or absorb many other gangs who have attempted to take their place. The Brass Needle has been surviving much the same way a remora does. Lead by Duraina Darkdraft, she and her gang have been stealing from The Gold Devils at every opportunity and barely do much else. The Nameless are known throughout the Birdnest as assassins who work for no pay. Contracts are signed but no money is ever exchanged.

History

Nordgurd was built as a capital city after the Battle of Aludel. Originally intended to be a final stand point in case the forces of Ogralon ever rose to their original power again. Instead, Ogralon backed off for a while and Nordgurd became a focal point for trade within Aludel.
