Talamh

789 Year of the Fifth Era

Created by

This is the world of Talamh.

A world of Magic and Monsters, Kings and Tyrants, Heroes and Villains, and you.

Talamh has three known continents. The Hasrabal is the smallest continent of Talamh and can be found furthest south, being an archipelago of linked islands and larger landmasses, with smaller breakaway islands dotted between them. It is a harsh and unforgiving place, sea winds from the South and the breath of the Northern gods have created a land of jagged mountains, callous tundra plains, and gruff peoples who are particularly skilled sailors and naval combatants. Previously The Hasrabal's many port cities have survived and even enjoyed life through traders and merchants braving the seas to travel to the far off continents of Araga and, especially, Eagal, to exchange their unique resources for those difficult to obtain otherwise. However The Hasrabal has found itself cut-off from the rest of the world due to the constant hurricanes and squalls plaguing the surrounding oceans and seas, which has become known as "The Age of Storms". The Age of Storms has been ongoing for the last 12 years and there are no signs of it stopping, which has driven a wedge between the clans who live there currently, due to disputes over land, ownership of resources, and supporting those in need.

The second of Talamh's continents is the mythical land of Araga. Araga is a temperate land with an ideal climate for agriculture, but its peoples are far from comfortable. It is a land of promise, famed for its skilled warriors, great innovators, and progressive societies. It is, however, also plagued with its share of problems; hulking monsters roam the land, creating a culture where martial prowess and tactical superiority are viewed in high esteem. Although it was once almost entirely connected as a single landmass, a terrible event many eons ago shattered the land leaving persisting scars which can be found on its northern most edge, which has encouraged naval movement between the nations of Araga, and led to the belief that whoever controls the sea, controls the land itself. Although not as adept as the clans from The Hasrabal in their ability to navigate and fight within the seas and oceans, they are still a force to be reckoned with.

The final of the three continents, Eagal, has become synonymous with fear. A land that was once shared between the various peoples and cultures living there, has now become a slow, but inevitable, descent in to oppression by a being known only as the Omniarch. None know who the Omniarch actually is however, at least none who claim to know such things, and many theories as to who they are circle around the rumour-mill. Some believe it is actually a title, passed from one to another when the time comes. Others believe the Omniarch was just another person, one fortunate to find some great power or strike a terrible bargain with a foul patron, which has led to them becoming a dark shadow of their previous self. the Omniarch's empire has grown to encompass the majority of Eagal, however there are still few regions which remain independent, resisting the Omniarch's influence by shoring up their defences to appear too costly to invade or by trying to appease the Omniarch in the hopes that they may just be allowed to coexist. The clans of The Hasrabal previously traded regularly with the Omniarch's Empire, but with the Age of Storms preventing passage, trade has halted and the current state of Eagal is unknown. How the interrupted access to the minerals and ore or The Hasrabal has affected Eagal remains to be seen, and this may have caused the Omniarch's armies to take pause in their previously aggressive expansion, or may have pushed them to act sooner while they still hold a tactical advantage over the lesser nations.

Some speak of other lands out past The Heartless Waters, but they're all fools and charlatans, I wouldn't believe a word of it if I were you... In any case, whatever the state of the world, I'm sure you've got better things to do than to listen to someone like me - Get out there and experience it for yourselves - You never know, maybe you'll change the course of history itself?

Or maybe you won't.
