Wyldfire Adventures: Boundaries

Don Blake has been hired on to the Gironde School full time as the athletics medic, taking some of the workload off school doctor Steven Reynolds. Dr. Blake has additional duties as First Aid Instructor for two classes per semester. This will help him save up money to replace his destroyed ambulance!

Plus, there's some kind of extra pay listed on his employment project for something called "Special Projects", duties assigned as needed.

But, with this being his first week on the job -- and with Dr. Gironde out of the country on Phoenix Industries business -- that extra duty clause surely won't come into play until he's properly settled in.

Right?

It's a cold, wet late spring week. Dr. Gironde, worn out by the restless energy generated in a boarding school full of cooped-up young mutants, has gone to Europe on "urgent business".
Most of Don Blake's on-the-job equipment is already present, or already owned by him, but there is some particular difference in planning urgent- and emergency-care for kids.
Brightly colored bandages and colorful splints are probably just the start; just get Doc Reynolds started on the topic of the potential patients' highly variant biological processes!
This calls for an early afternoon dash southward, to the nearest enclosed shopping mall. The rain has let up, briefly anyway, so the two Wyldfire members who drew the short straw -- i.e., are saddled with providing The Briefing to their new teammate -- have conscripted one of the household vehicles and taken off on Don's behalf before any additional chores can be dumped on their collective heads.
This isn't the really big shopping mall in the center of Metropolis, but it does have a GNC, a food court, a sporting goods store, and a HobbyTown. The mall itself has a fairly small footprint but three stories; some of the storefronts aren't rented out, so the mall management company gets a tax break by hosting museum-style Educational Exhibits. This season they've got Exotic Flora As Art, brought to you by the same people who design all that weird plant sculpture stuff at Martha's Vineyards.
(Because nothing hideous is expected to happen at a plant show of any sort in Metropolis.)
Like Bubba forming himself out of one of the sculptures while running to Thomas, crying, because something SUPER BAD happened to his playmates in the middle of recess.
