Quickbranch
Six feet tall, eight years old, this boy is a humanoid daisy bush
Robert Jordan (a.k.a. Bubba)
Important notes for playing this character:
Once upon a time there was a mutagenic Plot Fluid in the form of a street drug (because in the real world, it was the 1990s) called "Steel Breath". Science-minded heroes, trying to figure out how this particular Plot Fluid worked and who made it and whether it could be turned to the uses of Good, followed the good old comic book tradition of pouring it onto various living things to see what happened.
As one does.
Alas, no Jurassic Park resulted. We got a few lab mice the size of subway cars; they did not even try to take over the world.
Also: one heroic scientist tried mixing the Steel Breath into the plant food for his "daisy". (He thought it was a daisy. It was a clematis vine which someone had tried to give the bonsai treatment.)
Eventually, in mid-August of 1998, the daisy uprooted itself from its pot and started talking back to the scientist.
Because neither the supervillains of the world nor the game master can leave "weird enough" alone, a few in-game years later, the hero team's dependent NPCs got ambushed by Evil Scientists, and Bubba the daisy got caught in the crossfire.
Ever since, Bubba has been a great big, somewhat anxious, developmentally disabled child. He identifies strongly with Big Bird on Sesame Street because they are both very large perpetual six-year-olds. At the founding of Young Justice, he has been "six years old" for nine and a half years. His birthday is still celebrated in mid-August every year, but numbers are never attached to it.
Bubba will follow the "older kids'" lead most of the time. He does occasionally have meltdowns; these include a lot of physical lashing out in all directions with clematis tendrils
Mental characteristics
Gender Identity
Mental Trauma
Phobia: Bubba is not okay with being completely alone unless he otherwise feels completely safe
Minor Rage: Bubba occasionally has a meltdown, complete with striking out at random in all directions.
Intellectual Characteristics
Morality & Philosophy
- It is important to Always Follow the Rules.
- Rules exist in order to help people be safe. If someone tries to make a Rule that is not about being safe, or that does not seem to have a reason, then it is not a good Rule and the person might be a BAD GUY
- The most important Rules are these:
- Stay alive.
- Look out for each other.
- Do what you can.
- Accept that you can't do everything.
- Always check a new food with an Adult who understands Botany and Chemistry to make sure it's okay to eat.
- Take good care of Mr. Sniffles.
- If Auntie Rissa says "Run!", then run and run and don't look back.
Taboos
Relationships
History
Nineteen-year-old Thomas tried to figure out how this "Steel Breath" stuff worked. He was not expecting it to mutate a potted plant to the point that it became a person. He immediately stepped up to his new role as parent to this child, and their relationship has been solid ever since.
Nicknames & Petnames
Bubba calls Thomas "Dad" when out of school and out of costume. He sometimes gets flustered in school and calls Thomas "Mr. Dad" because the other students call him "Mr. Jordan". If either one of them is "in costume", Bubba may call him "Silverwing" or may call him "SuperDad".
Thomas calls his son "Bubba" most of the time, though "Peanut" was a private term of endearment when Bubba was small. Thomas has not gotten used to the idea of his son having a superhero identity yet, so "Quickbranch" does not come naturally.
History
Legal Status
Tina is legally Bubba's mother by adoption
