Shady Rest

Let it be known that all can rest their heads should they wish to stay in our little village; we rarely get new visitors anyway. - Elder Roshco
Deep below in lands vasts and green, on the edge of the towering Silver Mountains, lies the Shady Hills, known for always having the mountain's shadow blanketing against the fiery gaze of the sun. It is a very isolated place with very few people scattered about it, often known as an untouched wilderness; high up on the highest hill, a small village was built upon it to see the vast expanse in all directions. This village, while having no official name due to it often being destroyed and abandoned countless times, one name has been used by the people of these hills that only made sense for its comfy spot on that hill, Shady Rest.

Government

Town Elders: The village elders are considered the leading authority due to their wisdom, often acting like parents, with everyone being their children.

Defences

Stone Fence Wall: An old stone wall surrounds the village that is mainly used as a boundary to keep livestock in and let people know that they are leaving the village's boundaries.

Infrastructure

Much of the buildings are made of stone, which is easy to find in the hills, but most of them in the village have been standing long before the current residents came to settle hear, with many believing that they are centuries old and have been long since abandoned with the fate of its original builders unknown.

History

A Comfy Place

Shady Rest has always been known for its calm atmosphere and peaceful lifestyle. Its people live simply as the Spark intended, going about their days in quiet without a worry in the world. The village itself is nothing but a speck in the middle of the lush wilderness with no sign of bustling civilization to bring them troubles and complications. The people here all know one another and do their jobs like any other day without complaint when the sun rises, but when the shade of the mountain comes around, it is often a time of break for a few hours. This allows them to rest without the sun beating since very few trees are on the hill under which to sleep.   Once the mountain's shadow finally shifts away, they return to work and do not stop until the sun begins to sleep to bring about the night. During that time, people use it to relax and socialize with one another. Much of the time, they do this by coming together to eat and drink while listening to tunes and tales wandering Tuners that come and go in their travels. Some go home and spend time with family, enjoying the peace that night has to offer. With sleep to take them and ease them from the aching of their muscles to enter a place of comfort with the The Dreaming. Once they awake, they continue the routine all over again, preferring it as a fulfillment of life, with no complexities to bother with that daily routine.

Tourism

Due to its isolation, Shady Rest doesn't get that many people, only wanderers and others with business there.

Geography

The village is found in the lengthy Shady Hills, a series of large hills that have made their place in the shadow of the Silver Mountains, covering these hills briefly every day, giving them their name. Much of the hills are mainly covered in grassy rocky terrain good for cattle grazing, with various spots for the greenery of trees and bushes to break into the rock all across them.

Places of Note

Old Shrine: An ancient shrine can be found on the edge of the village that has been around long before the village was ever made; many believe that it has been around for the early days of the Eternal Spark. People pray to it daily to ease their burdens with faith so they may know the comfort its light brings.   Rulf's Forge: One of the oldest shops in town is worked by a grizzly elder, Rulf Gruvstein, who can make anything needed around town. Despite his old age, his hands are still strong, and his mind is as keen as ever in shaping any metal given to him.   Town Hall: The most prominent building in the village used for many social events, meetings, or just a nice place take a nap in from time to time. The hall mainly stays empty for most of the day otherwise with only a few people going in and out of it during that time.
