Bellboy
Bellboys are lads (and lasses, these days) who descend into the depths of the sea to grab as many treasures as they can. Pearls and other such gems are common finds, one of the few positive side effects of magic in the land. Traditionally, they are given tight, pocketless uniforms, for quite obvious reasons.
Career
Qualifications
Obviously, a bellboy needs to know how to swim. Not knowing the value of the jewelry is an added bonus.
Career Progression
Bellboys are often taking their first steps into a lifetime of sailing, whether they like it or not.
Payment & Reimbursement
If they make it back with enough jewels, bellboys get paid a fix amount by the captain, usually decided entirely by the latter. Payment is usually made per trip, rather than monthly.
Perception
Purpose
Bellboys are the much needed link between jewelers and their jewels. It comes as no surprise they are underpaid.
Social Status
No true bellboy admits to being a bellboy. They will instead call themselves sailors, or divers at best. If someone tells you they are a bellboy, they are lying.
Operations
Tools
The diving bell gives the profession its name. Depending on the generosity of the captain, they may also carry a knife and a pair of goggles to the depths of the ocean.
Workplace
A bellboy spends 30% of his work time aboard a ship, and the other 70% underwater. The fauna he is surrounded by varies greatly based on his location and overall luck.
Dangers & Hazards
Besides drowning, a bellboy is considered edible by a growing percentage of sealife, especially closer to the western regions. Given that most captains are also monarchs at sea, it can be said they are not much safer on board either.

Raw Materials Gathering
Demand
Anyone capable of swimming can be a bellboy. They don't expect any raises anytime soon.
