Influencers

Summary

Influencers are a loose categorization of powerful, sentient, and unnatural entities that have existed across Ravenna for almost as long as humans have. During the second age of Ravenna Influencers poured into Ravenna in large numbers from the Dying West (past the East pole, where East becomes West), ending the industrial golden age of the continent.
They present a massive threat to the continent, and if it were not for the Paladin Orders of Ravenna they would have long overrun the Continent.

Description

The Influencers take a number of different forms, all of which are abhorrent and perverse. Most (but not all) belong to a series of pre-existing forms that roughly govern the creatures appearance, primitive state behaviors and primary powers.
Influencers are near impossible to kill, however destroying their physical form (or forcing them to maintain it for an extended period of time without allowing them to regain their strength) can weaken them, forcing them to remain immaterial for an extended period of time or outright 'devolve' them into a more primitive state. Over time Influencers naturally gain strength, a process that can be accelerated through ritual or conflict. They begin existence in a primitive, impulsive state and gain/regain their intellect as their influence spreads.
As Influencers slowly grow in strength their physical form begins to undergo changes that are often unique to the individual, but all share one common visual cue to their evolution. Each Influencer, regardless of form, has eyes that while in their most primitive form are one unbroken color. As they first begin to gain power tiny black dots form at the center of their eyes and black begins to border the edge of the eyes. The black edge grows into the equivalent of the whites of human eyes, and the dots form pupils. At the height of their strength the color of their eyes forms a small iris, and as the colored iris retreats it becomes brighter.

History

The Influencers were present in Ravenna since it's first age, however they didn't become the threat they are today until the second age of Ravanna.
