Mekromat
Summary
Mekromat is the leader and most powerful member of the Wilderun gods, a loose grouping of deities that from a makeshift pantheon that is responsible for the creation of the majority of post Astral Crusade Sentient Races. After leading the Wilderun gods away from the first pantheon he would go on to transform a population of wild bison to form a new race that he named the Demrin, as close to his own image as he could while still working with the limitations of an already existing species.Visage
Mekromat's primary form is that of a Pale skinned human with a pair of widely splayed onyx black bull-horns breaking through a dark head of hair. His eyes are a dull rust red, and most of the few who see the god in his primary physical form claim that his glare is almost universally intense. He is tall with a moderate build that makes use of an equal mix of power and agility, making his primary form highly adaptable and versatile in combat. However, like many of the Wilderun Pantheon he is a capable shapeshifter and is capable of taking a number of forms. One of his more common secondary forms is that of a white-furred Demrin that retains the same horns of his near-human form, considerably much larger. In this form his build is far broader and more muscular in keeping with the build of the Demrin race. Many of his casual worshippers consider this to be his true form as he is the creator of the Demrin, however those familiar with his creation of the Demrin know that this form is in fact his second form, not his first. In both of his major forms he is clad in a golden plate with an unusually thin silhouette and a brass wreath that is made in the image of a pair of crossing olive branches. Flowing down from his left shoulder is a cape of the purest white, emerging from three pauldrons that gently bend upwards at the farthest tip. His armor is covered in leaf-like patterns which give the illusion that he is a peacekeeper god, however his history would bring this pretense into doubt.Personality
Mekromat has a lofty personality and a golden tongue that makes his intellect seem far higher than it is, and he has proven to be intelligent even without the use of his speech. In addition to his vast abilities of speech Mekromat has the innate ability to understand the nature of enchantments or magical effects, however some items specific capabilities and full scope are beyond the full understanding of the god. He uses these natural gifts to present himself as an enlightened being who seeks to uplift the masses, and he may indeed be, however his past hints at a far darker psyche. Mekromat is usually calm, but under a few circumstances he has allowed his temper to get the better of him. When angered his wrath is swift and decisive, and has on two separate occasions lead him to slay fellow members of the Wilderun Pantheon. These bouts of rage are typically brought on by challenges to his role as leader of the Pantheon, however even during such occasions Mekromat retains some degree of reason. It is not until he feels his sister, who he considers to be his only true family is threatened that he fully reveals the true extent of his wrath. It is his sister that grants the deepest insights into his personality. Like Mekromat it is believed that she was an outsider of sorts within her family, not quite fitting the dynamic of many Astral and Seltien families before their arrival in Tor'Saarn. She did not approve of widespread conflict (which was not taken well by her militaristic family) and was largely left to fend for herself by her parents in favor of spending their time raising her more militarily minded siblings. However she was not entirely alone as her twin brother Mekromat took it upon himself to build up the confidence of his sister and shelter her from the world as she was, in his eyes, a fellow outsider. Indeed she remains his only trusted confidant to this day, and is one of the only individuals he shows a modem of true tenderness for.Relationships and interactions
Mekromat rules his Pantheon with an iron fist, however he maintains a deeply caring demeanor toward his sister, who he sees as his only true family despite having two other siblings.History
Mekromat was born as one of four children to an unknown Astral and Seltien couple not long before the closing years of the Astral Crusades and was raised alongside his siblings to embody the ideals of an Astral warrior with the hope that they would one day rise to leadership positions within the Astral legions. Although the fate of the eldest sibling is unknown (though it can be presumed he either died during the late crusade, was left behind during the exodus from the Titan Realms or remains under the service of Sar'aan, Nioss or one of their children), Mekromat has a recorded history with both his twins (born triplets after the first child). His twin brother disappeared after a battle alongside Mekromat against the Titan Spawn, however this disappearance isn't altogether unexplained. Although there were no known witnesses many believed Mekromat killed his brother (or in some way lead him to his death) as a means of taking over his position in the first legion. It is documented that he often fought with his brother (who served as a general directly answerable to Ravenan, son of Sar'aan) over his position, believing he had been denied the promotion due to a lack of conventional leadership traits despite having a proven track record. However he was never officially reprimanded for this act, nor was he officially accused of commiting it. Mekromat believed that these accusations still had an impact on his military career, and indeed it did stagnate. Frustrated with his lot Mekromat left Dorim sometime around the late pre-ages or early first age taking a number of lower deities and demi-astrals with him, including his sister (who he often refers to as his little sister, despite only being born a minute or so later than him), Raimia. These gods would form the initial Wilderun Pantheon, which would continue to grow as it gained new members (some believed to have an extra-planar origin, a claim he denies). However the initial members were not necessarily bound together out of a sense of true loyalty but a requirement to cling together to have any relevance in Tor'Saarn. The tensions within his pantheon would come to a head during the Sundering of Tiorath when his rival, Faitar, would try to take over the pantheon after a disagreement over whether or not they should assist the Progenitor Pantheon fight off the Titan threat that had emerged in the west. The disagreement would soon turn to violence as the Pantheon was divided down the middle until Mekromat regained control of his subordinates after slaying Faitar and gathering the Pantheon to help the Progenitor Pantheon. This decision was abnormal for Mekromat, and why he chose to help this Pantheon is up for debate, however popular theories are that he desired to lower the tension between the two pantheons in an attempt to lessen the scrutiny of the far more powerful gods that followed Sar'aan (offering him far greater freedom in his schemes), he used it as an opportunity to Gaige the strength of his allies before they could become threats, or that he only joined the war to appease his sister (who was the first member of the Wilderun gods to suggest that they assist their former rulers).Domains:
