Aldwin is the current speaker for the farmers of
Piper's Ferry.
Even a blind pig farts up a truffle every now and again.— Aldwin
Description
Aldwin is a wiry old man, well-muscled from decades of physical labor. He is heavily wrinkled from a life of near-constant frowning, and his voice is often hoarse from shouting.
Personality
The ill-tempered farmer has absolutely no patience for laziness. He will mercilessly insult anyone he finds slacking or wasting his time. However, his barbed words mask a wisdom and commitment to running the town as smoothly as possible.
Because of his experience and no-nonsense attitude, Aldwin was elected as speaker by the rest of Piper's Ferry. While he has no desire to lead, he cares more about doing right by the people counting on him, even if he shows them little warmth.
Relationships
He is well-regarded by the other farmers of Piper's Ferry, many of whom attribute their recent prosperity to his tenure as speaker.
Although Aldwin insults all and smiles at none,
Maximus is the one person who has the grumpy old farmer's respect.
History
When Piper's Ferry was plagued by the
mysterious blight, Aldwin hired adventurers, including the
Redbreasted Robins, to investigate. However, the blight's many returns soured his already low opinion of ratcatchers, and he began praying to the
River Goddess, while the rest of town lost hope.
Although he was skeptical of
Kapital, he gave them permission to look into the blight, but he promised no reward, even if they claimed they were successful.
After the blight receded from the golden fields of Piper's Ferry, Aldwin accepted Kapital's investment in his town; he was mostly swayed because Maximus was charged with protecting the still-recovering settlement.
When the
Flesh Eaters murdered a number of farmers, Aldwin was able to keep the town from marching to war against the
lizardfolk.
