Ben Dabbler is a merchant and the owner of
Bargain Ben, a provisions store in the
Keep on the Borderlands.
Description
He is a
halfling man with a mop of sandy-brown hair.
Personality
Ben is easily frightened and a bit impulsive.
History
He once attended a bard's college, but he never finished his degree.
After the collapse of
Gaes, he sought refuge in the Keep on the Borderlands, where he made his living as a merchant for general supplies and provisions.
When
Kapital first arrived in the keep, they found him in
Wickman's Watch, where he was desperately looking for adventurers to protect his recent discovery:
herowort. Ben claimed to have made the long-lasting crop with alchemical experimentation. Unsure if he could recreate it, he called on his connections to druids and scholars to collect samples. Unfortunately, much of his crop had been eaten or burnt, and the mercenary he hired to guard it,
Cyndil Trueshot, backed out of her contract when she found out the herowort had attracted a chimera.
Intrigued by Chuma's station in the
Brass Bankers, Ben signed an infernal contract: 15% of his business's total revenue if the guild could protect the herowort
and slay the chimera and other creatures attracted by the crop.
After hearing about herowort's greater properties, he paid
Elri Izacal for her help against the
Low Elves (who lied about the chimera to make off with the herowort for themselves) and signed an amended infernal contract for a 20% stake in his business, on the condition that the herowort was sold to the keep instead of the druids and scholars.
