Fishmaster Oomailiq

Oomailiq was a psionically-awakened Thanoi and previous Fishmaster of the City of Kalaman.

Description

Oomailiq was a large Thanoi fisherman, often seen wearing fisherman's clothing. He had soft, innocent features, and could usually be found by the docks, drinking tea.

Personality

Being a Thanoi, Oomailiq was difficult to understand due to the nature in which Thanoi converse. However, despite the language and speech barrier, many knew Oomailiq to be nice, caring, and supportive of the people of Kalaman. Always willing to give more than his share, Oomailiq donated much of his business's hauls to people in need, such as the Voglerites who came to Kalaman fleeing the Red Dragon Army.

Abilities

Oomailiq was psionically awakened, and was able to read the minds of those he conversed with, as well as project images into their mind seemingly at will. Despite having complete mastery over this ability, Oomailiq never abused it, and only used it to portray ideas and wisdom so that the person he was conversing with could understand his intent.

Through his kind nature, Oomailiq fostered strong relationships with those in need in the city of Kalaman, to include the new refugees from Vogler, who had lost everything to the Red Dragon Army. His charitable nature has also made him one of the more approachable guild leaders, and with his polite demeanor and willingness to help fostered a working relationship with the Greenshield Regiment, namely Fëandil, who would take lessons and advice from the Thanoi over tea from time to time.

Enemies

The only real enemy that Oomailiq had in his life was that of Lord Soth's forces, and only because he was a Kalaman citizen. Unfortunately, the enemies in service to Lord Soth would reach Oomailiq in the form of Sir Caradoc, who would ultimately slay the Thanoi in the guildmasters chambers in Castle Kalaman.

History

Oomailiq had been the reigning Fishmaster of Kalaman for quite some time when the Greenshield Regiment arrived in Kalaman escorting the Voglerite refugees. Oomailiq would be one of the first guildmasters in the city to express concern for the refugees and offer help, a gesture that was taken to heart and appreciated by the now homeless Voglerites. With the Voglerites main skillset being fishing, he quickly found work for the struggling populace on his fishing boats, restoring purpose and dignity to a people who were recently robbed of both. Throughout his time helping the refugees, Oomailiq often imparted wisdom and teachings to Fëandil over tea near the docks. Unfortunately, when the Greenshield Regiment and the rest of the Kalaman Army pushed north to defend Steel Springs, undead knights in the service of Lord Soth, led by Sir Caradoc, would enter Castle Kalaman and murder the guild masters, only to be engaged in combat by the Greenshield Regiment shortly after. Oomailiq was one of the last living guild masters when the Greenshield Regiment arrived, though he stayed alive long enough to psionically transfer information to Fëandil regarding a whale and its name.
