Steel Springs

Description

Steel Springs is an open battleground situated northeast of the City of Kalaman, and is bisected horizontally by a flowing stream. Due to the flat nature of the surrounding area, the water from the stream creates muddy and difficult terrain on either side, making an assault very difficult. Though the stream is deep and flows heavily, there are places where the stream is split around various islands of rock and land, creating 'stepping' stones that would allow for easier passage. Unfortunately, due to the surrounding water, this terrain is incredibly difficult to traverse.

Tactical Importance

As one of the few natural obstacles separating Kalaman from the north, Steel Springs offers near-invaluable defensive ground from an assault. With the natural water feature and difficult terrain, a talented tactician would be able to defend an assault with little to no issue, even with less troops and arms than the assaulting force. By defending one side of the stream, the attacking force would suffer great casualties in attempt to cross while being struck with arrows from the opposing river bank.

Notable Events

In recent history, only one battle has been fought at Steel Springs, involving Lord Backaris Uth Estide's forces and the Red Dragon Army, later named Backaris's Folly.
