Grippoli Rite of Friendship

Description

It is yet unknown whether this tradition is practiced by all grippoli or just those living in Pondhome. When an outsider earns the respect of the grippoli, the Pondmother will invite them to partake in this sacred ritual.

Practice

Participants are woken up at midnight and led to the pool in the center of the village. As other grippoli stand silently in a ring, the Pondmother chants and pours the contents of a weathered clay jug into the pool; as she does so, the water begins to glow dimly, and a wave of magic washes over the participants.
If they do not resist the effect, the participants will suddenly be overcome with drowsiness. When they awake, they will be outsiders no more, but able to understand and speak the Grippoli language.

History

When a group from Kapital freed the grippoli from the Poisoned Cup, the Pondmother performed this ceremony to symbolize the friendship forged between their two factions.
