The Veiled Lady guarded the
Fungal Heart and was the cause of the blights of
Piper's Ferry. She was ultimately killed while preventing
Kapital from discovering the Fungal Heart.
Description
Adopting a semi-feminine form, the Veiled Lady was inhumanly slender with a crown-like growth on her head. Finally, she possessed the
Lady's Veil, a diaphanous cloak of spores, marking her as the Fungal Heart's champion and steward.
Personality
Quite unexpectedly, she was eager to communicate with the party, sending them feelings of hospitality and curiosity. She showed them the world as she saw it; people eating mushrooms, the blight claiming corpses.
Powers
The Veiled Lady had complete control of the fungi in her lair. Able to raises corpses as fungal zombies or heal her wounds by consuming them, she was extremely durable; she could also use airborne spores to sap strength and inflict rapid necrosis.
While fire negated many of her abilities, she was especially vulnerable to intense light.
History
Operating in the tunnels beneath Piper's Ferry, the Veiled Lady nurtured the Fungal Heart, feeding it with the decay wrought by the three major blights that ravaged the town's rolling golden fields. As its power grew, so did hers, and the tunnels took on an alien hue as all types of fungi thrived in her home.
When Kapital found the Veiled Lady's lair, she was initially diplomatic, welcoming and urging them to understand how the blight was natural from her perspective. However, when their intentions were made clear, she battled the group with the full weight of her power to prevent them from reaching the Fungal Heart. Ultimately,
Azrael used his hellish blessings to blink behind her and slice her in two.
With
Zena Inaro showing mercy, she accepted the
Lady's Veil and took up the mantle of the new
Veiled Lady, protector and envoy of the Fungal Heart.
